Daylighting is the simplest and most dependable outlet. You run the pipe downhill until it emerges at the surface somewhere lower than the drain, and water flows out into the open air. There is no chamber to fill, no soil to saturate, nothing mechanical to fail — gravity does the work. Where the land slopes away from the wet area, daylighting is almost always the best answer. When you have some fall in the pipe but no true daylight point — say the yard drops gently but never exposes a bank — a pop-up emitter is the usual solution. It is a spring-loaded or floating lid set flush with the lawn at a low spot. Water pressure in the pipe lifts the lid and spills out at the surface, then the lid settles closed so debris and animals stay out. If there is no lower ground to reach and the soil drains well, a dry well lets the water soak into the earth instead of running off. It is a buried pit or chamber that stores water temporarily and releases it into the surrounding soil.
